        Business Profile

Mark Sexton is the driving force behind Essex Work Skills, an organisation established in 2009 to support the development of employability skills in young people. Through a wide range of activities, events and brokerage services, Essex Work Skills helps prepare students for the realities of today’s workplace, introducing them to the skills, attitudes and behaviours employers expect. The organisation delivers flexible, proven programmes designed to support successful transitions from education into employment or further training.

Essex Work Skills works in close partnership with schools, academies, colleges and youth-focused organisations to deliver work-related learning, careers and enterprise education. Its services include mock interviews, enterprise activities, business simulation games, employer engagement, consultancy and audit support. By aligning its programmes with Department for Education requirements and Ofsted expectations, the organisation helps institutions meet statutory obligations for students in Year 12 and above, while also supporting delivery against the Gatsby Foundation benchmarks.

A key focus of Essex Work Skills is creating meaningful connections between education and the business community. By building and maintaining strong employer networks, the organisation gives schools and colleges access to experienced professionals who can add real-world insight to learning. Its most in-demand programme, Mock Interview Days, guides students from an introductory assembly through to a one-to-one interview with a local business expert, helping them recognise their individual strengths and build confidence. With all administration and volunteer recruitment managed in-house, Essex Work Skills delivers high-quality, impactful experiences that equip young people with the skills they need to succeed.
